The 1980s era of Chain Reaction, with Bill Cullen at the helm. Here are the rules of his era:
This bonus round format was not all they stuck with. As soon as I know more information, it shall be updated.

that connected to one another. Each chain had 8 spaces, each containing a word. The top and bottom words were revealed, and the idea was to fill in the middle 6. the corresponding contestant was shown by a red light infront of them. That person would then choose a letter
connecting to one any word, and they'd get one letter and try to guess. An incorrect guess sent the control to the opposing team. A right guess earned points, and the point value was determined by how many letters were in the word. If there were 7 letters in the word, you'd get 7 points. Two words in the chain has + signs in them, and those are worth double the point value of that word. The first team to reach 50 points
would win $250, and go on to the bonus round.

Use this chain for example. How do they connect?
NERO was blamed for a FIRE. A FIRE HOSE is used to stop fires. HOSE GARDEN, I think relates to watering a GARDEN. GARDEN VEGETABLES, well vegetables DOES come from a garden. VEGETABLES are in SALAD, and what's a salad without SALAD DRESSING, and a DRESSING ROOM is used in Hollywood.
has a chance to win $10,000, in addition to the $250 they'vve already won. The two celebrity teammates would be shown a series of answers, and they'd have to construct
questions to those words, alternating in-between each other one word at a time. when the question was completed, one celebrity would press the red buzzer and the contestant would have a chance to guess. If at anytime an illegal clue was given, two words was said for one celebrity, or if the question didn't fit in, the word would be forfeited. 90 seconds was given, and each correct answer earned $100
. 10 correct answers in that limit won $10,000.
-Bill Cullen, as I have said many times before on other pages, is the game show king, as he was the host of many shows, such as Blockbusters, Child's Play, Eye Guess, and more fun shows.
-The "cuckoo" sound and the timer sound effect in the bonus round were also used on the early shows of the Pyramid's with not only Bill Cullen, but Dick Clark as well. Donny Osmond's revival of Pyramid did not feature these sound effects.
