I had been wanting to talk of the short-lived Challengers for quite some time when this was scheduled. Prior to the show a few days before, I had received an e-mail from someone, and had meant to respond, but business kicked in for me at the time.
When the show started, I went through the upcoming events list and thought I was having trouble with the Switchboard while trying to bring in a new number. While still trying, I brought in other numbers until I realized I saw the same number, and when I brought that person in, it was all-time champion STAN NEWMAN! He announced that he though he had trouble with his line, and redialed.
As we discussed The Challengers, we heard a bit of information from Stan that some of us might not have known about the current events game show with Dick Clark and some interesting facts. He also had let everyone know that someone posted his first episode in full on Veoh, which I went to as soon as I could. With him being in crosswords today, pretty much ineligible for another game show since he co-wrote some books that game shows use to clarify their information for questions, we all know he is one swell master for The Challengers, and if he wasn't, he probably would never be the all-time champion. Congrats to Stan and our thanks for him calling in to the show.
